Historically Restaurant-Centric Public Relations Agency Reignites as derekPR, Will Amplify Philanthropic Initiatives That Change Lives for the Greater Good
Charlotte, NC (RestaurantNews.com) Twenty years after bursting onto the national PR scene as a start-up, winning best-in-class awards across all categories of competition on behalf of multiple restaurant brands as DFPR and after expanding as 150PR, which noted the agency’s years’ of experience on staff at the time, founder and principal of both Derek Farley is rebranding again, this time going solo, as derekPR.

“This is about getting back to the awe and wonder of being a new business, where every day is an adventure yet every challenge is taken with the confidence and wisdom of a legacy agency,” said Farley. “I love doing restaurant PR, and my greatest joy is showing companies, restaurants and others the competitive advantage of corporate philanthropy with new ideas to change lives for the greater good.”
In July 2006, Farley caught a career break, landing the TGI Fridays national account as a virtual unknown. Under his representation, Fridays established historical highs across all measures of PR success, including ROI, advertising equivalency, guest engagement and overall creativity.
In 2010, Farley reunited with his former business colleague, Tom Beyer, and the two aligned on several national accounts, including Applebee’s, On the Border, and UFC Gym, all of which achieved unprecedented PR success.
Restaurant-centric PR agency derekPR is expanding its scope to include corporate philanthropic initiatives
In 2017, Farley implemented a corporate philanthropy for the largest seller of walk-in tubs in North America, Safe Step Walk-In Tub Company, aptly naming it Safe Step Cares. For six years, the program dominated news coverage with above-the-fold news features, network television segments and original stories about changing lives. By recognizing and rewarding people and facilities with its renowned tubs and showers, Safe Step changed the lives of thousands through care and solutions.
“With that program, we proved that by putting the greater good first, all else is elevated, especially the bottom line,” said Farley. “Giving back is always good, but changing lives is what really matters, and that is this agency’s focus and goal for the next 20 years.” derekPR is headquartered in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and has been since 2005.
