Washington, DC (RestaurantNews.com) South Block, the better-for-you brand known for its handcrafted acai bowls, smoothies and cold-pressed juices, celebrates Spring with a new Cherry Blossom Smoothie, high-protein smoothies, and an expanded mini bowls category available March 10 through May 25.
The Cherry Blossom Smoothie features a delicious blend of whole dark cherries, cranberry juice, bananas, and a “cocowhip” twist. The cherries are packed with vitamin C and fiber, and support muscle recovery and overall wellness.
“Our guests are ready for sunshine, fresh air and that shift in energy that comes with spring,” said Amir Mostafavi, founder and CEO of South Block. “The Cherry Blossom Smoothie reflects that moment. It’s rooted in real fruit and crafted from scratch, giving people something celebratory while still supporting how they want to fuel their day.”
To mark the launch, South Block will host an exclusive tote giveaway on Tuesday, March 10. Guests who order a Cherry Blossom Smoothie at the register on March 10th will have a chance to receive an exclusive cherry blossom inspired tote bag designed by DMV-based artist Chris Pyrate, known for his cherry blossom artwork. Available while supplies last!
South Block is also expanding its smoothie lineup with two new delicious protein-forward options. The Daily Protein Smoothie features 37 grams of whey protein and the Incredible Bulk Smoothie has 27 grams of whey protein. Plus, both smoothies include creatine, which is a new supplement available on the menu.

“Today’s consumer wants to seamlessly incorporate protein into their everyday routines,” said Steve Heeley, president of South Block. “By incorporating whey protein and creatine into smoothies, we’re making functional nutrition accessible in a way that aligns with our commitment to real ingredients.”
South Block is also expanding its Mini Bowls category, giving guests more flexibility when it comes to portion size and value. Each acai bowl and smoothie bowl on the menu will now be available as a Mini Bowl, offering the same craveable flavors in a smaller format. The expansion creates more ways for guests to enjoy South Block while making it easier to find an option that fits their appetite, lifestyle, and budget.

Every smoothie and bowl at South Block is blended from scratch using real fruits, vegetables and ingredients – no sorbet, no syrups and no shortcuts. With its limited-time spring items, expanded protein offerings and broader mini bowl selection, South Block continues to evolve alongside guests, supporting wellness goals while staying rooted in its mission to make people feel awesome one block at a time.
