A Sweet Way to Support Survivors: Taco Bueno Launches "Churros for Change" for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Dallas, TX  (RestaurantNews.com)  October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Taco Bueno is marking it with “Churros for Change,” a campaign supporting domestic violence survivors in Texas and Oklahoma.

From October 14 through October 18, Taco Bueno will donate 100% of profits from its Churro Fries sales at 125 participating locations throughout Texas and Oklahoma. The campaign launches on National Dessert Day, giving guests an extra reason to indulge. The new limited-edition dessert features warm, crispy churros dusted with cinnamon and sugar and served with a rich caramel dipping sauce.

The initiative is part of Tacos with a Purpose, Taco Bueno’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves. Since launching in 2024, Tacos with a Purpose has raised more than $800,000 for two nonprofit partners: The Family Place in Texas and Palomar in Oklahoma.

The Family Place and Palomar provide services that can be life-changing for survivors, from emergency shelter and counseling to legal resources, advocacy and programs that help individuals and families establish safer, more independent lives.

A Sweet Treat with a Serious Purpose

Domestic Violence Awareness Month offers an opportunity to increase awareness of an issue affecting millions of people nationwide. The need is especially urgent in Texas and Oklahoma, where domestic violence affects a significant share of residents: 30.4 percent of women and 24.3 percent of men in Texas experience domestic violence, while the figures rise to 40 percent of women and 38 percent of men in Oklahoma. These statistics underscore the vital, year-round work of organizations that help survivors find safety, support, and a path forward.

Going Purple for a Purpose

Taco Bueno is also bringing a little purple, the nationally recognized color of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, to its menu throughout October with the limited-time Purple Party Taco.

The mini version of Taco Bueno’s Crispy Beef Taco features a crispy blue corn shell filled with beef, lettuce and cheddar cheese. The colorful offering is another way the brand is using its menu to draw attention to Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“At Taco Bueno, we believe a community is strongest when people show up for one another,” said Robert Sanders, vice president of operations at Taco Bueno. “Tacos with a Purpose is rooted in the belief that even small moments – sharing a meal, rounding up a purchase or choosing a favorite treat – can become meaningful acts of compassion. We want to make it easy for our guests to join us in supporting survivors, their families, and the organizations that provide safety, resources and hope every day.”
